How to help the homeless


Either one of the two on-the-job training programs


  1. Engine Block Automotive Technology 4-year Trade School
  2. Hammered Nail Building Construction’s 4-year Trade School


After Hammered Nail Building Construction rehabs any condemned apartment building, washers and dryers will be installed to wash the homeless students' work uniforms. Washers and Dryers will also be installed at Engine Block Automotive Technology locations to help with the overflow of washing work uniforms.


Read below to understand why drug and mental counselors need to be at both facilities to help troubled homeless with any of those illnesses. We can help people experiencing homelessness or others without those problems.

Healthcare Disparities

Poverty, homelessness, and social stigma make addiction more deadly.

Social determinants of health and addiction.

Stigma plays a role in addiction.

Social Determinants of Health are a significant factor contributing to addiction, but it is not the only factor.

Social determinants of health are the nonmedical factors that influence health outcomes. 


A good book for families with children with drug problems, purchase a book by Harvard Medical School, Overcoming Addiction


Some pointed to the lack of safety nets for military veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Other factors include urban housing prices and cuts in government subsidies to obtain affordable housing.


Two-thirds of all homeless are single adults, while the remaining third is made up of families and unaccompanied youths.


1. Most are mentally ill.

Most people living with mental illness prefer paid employment and 

independence by relying on the government for income support and medical benefits.

Employees with disabilities receive the reasonable accommodation they need to perform their jobs.

Many challenges associated with mental illness can easily be overcome through simple, low-cost.

Adaptations include a quiet workspace, a job coach, telecommuting options, flexible work schedules, and written instructions.


I'm sorry to say they would not be suited for working in the automotive or construction industry because of all the loud noises.

2. The majority abuse drugs and alcohol.

3. Fentanyl is behind rising deaths in the homeless population.

4. They’re dangerous and violent.

5. They’re criminals. 


Most minor offenders could work out depending on the type of crime, but no one who harmed another person.


6. “Bad choices” led to their homelessness.


We would have to work on changing their choices to better their lives. 


7. They prefer the freedom of life on the street.

People living with schizophrenia can work.

Schizophrenia is a mental health condition that involves the presence of hallucinations and delusions. 


When symptoms are present, they can significantly affect a person’s ability to think, process reality, 

and behave according to social norms.


Working may help with general and mental health and well-being. Research suggests that people with schizophrenia who are in employment may be less likely to experience symptoms of relapse.


8. They spend all their money on drugs and alcohol.

9. They need to get a job.

10. people experiencing homelessness are not part of “our community.”

11. They live in unsanitary conditions because they don’t care.

12. The legal “right to shelter” is the best way to end homelessness.


Finding enough housing for homeless individuals and families is impossible in coastal cities with low rental housing vacancy rates.


I read about this unemployed person for many years while they were ill. During that time, they felt worthless and dependent.
Why? Because they were debilitating impacts of mental illness.
